SpringEval User Guide

Complete guide to all app features

Managing Springs

The SpringEval home screen shows all your recorded springs. You have two views: List and Map.

Create a New Spring

  • Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner of the home screen
  • The app immediately creates a new spring and opens the Location tab
  • Enter at least a spring ID or name
  • All other details can be added later

Location Information

The location tab contains general information about the spring:

  • Spring ID: Official or custom identification number (used in export filenames)
  • Name: Description of the spring
  • Coordinates: LV95 easting and northing (automatically via GPS or manually)
  • Altitude: Metres above sea level
  • Municipality, Canton
  • Date of survey
  • Remarks

List View

The list shows all springs with:

  • Name or ID (depending on settings)
  • Date of last edit
  • Two colour-coded ÖWS badges (Structure and Fauna)
Use the search bar at the top to filter by name or ID.

Map View

The Map tab shows all springs with LV95 coordinates as colour-coded pin markers on the SwissTopo map. The colour corresponds to the ÖWS rating (Structure or Fauna – depending on settings).

Tap a marker to navigate to the spring.

With ≥ 2 springs, the map automatically fits the view to all springs. With a single spring, it centres at zoom 13.

Edit a Spring

Tap a spring in the list or a marker on the map. The spring opens with four tabs:

  • Location – Location data and general information
  • Structure – Structural evaluation form
  • Fauna – Fauna evaluation form
  • Export – Export options
All changes are saved automatically. There is no separate save button.

Delete a Spring

  • In the list view: swipe left on a spring or long-press
  • Confirm "Delete"
Deleted springs are moved to the Trash (soft-delete) and not permanently removed immediately. They can be restored from the Trash.

Trash & Restore

The Trash is accessible from the ⋮ menu on the home screen (→ "Trash"). It lists all deleted springs with their deletion date.

  • Restore: Tap a deleted spring and choose "Restore"
  • Permanently delete: Tap "Delete permanently" to remove a spring irreversibly
Warning: Permanent deletion removes all associated data (evaluations, field notes, photos, documents) and cannot be undone.

Spring Count Limits

Depending on your licence, you can create a certain number of springs:

  • Guest: Max. 2 springs
  • Starter: Max. 5 springs
  • Professional: Max. 10 springs
  • Enterprise: Unlimited
When the limit is reached, the "+" button is disabled and a licence upgrade notice appears.
